Rockingham, NC: Family warns of domestic violence after daughter killed by boyfriend

RICHMOND COUNTY, N.C. -- A Richmond County woman is speaking out about domestic violence after her daughter was fatally shot.
Kayentina Little, 35, was killed inside her Rockingham home early Saturday morning. Deputies said her four children witnessed the shooting.
"Her life was just too short. I just want to know why. Why?" Little's mother, Mae Smith said.
Detectives said Little was shot by her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Jimmy Williams, Jr.
Williams has a criminal history and Smith said he had been violent with her daughter before. After the most recent incident, she said her daughter sought help.
"He gave her a black eye, and she went to her brother's house," said Smith.
Family members said Little had decided to permanently end things with Williams over the weekend, when he returned to her home with a gun.
After the shooting, deputies said Williams fled the area with the help of a friend, Allan White.
Detectives tracked the two to Fayetteville, where they were arrested on Sunday.
Williams has been charged with murder and is in the Richmond County Jail without bond. White has been charged as an accessory and is also in jail.
Smith is now urging other victims of domestic violence to seek help before it is too late.
"Tell anybody that will listen, anybody - just get out. Get some help, report him, get out," Smith said.
