Aliquippa, PA: Police: Western Pa. man found dead of suspected fall after standoff following domestic call

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Police say a man who held officers at bay in a western Pennsylvania home was later found dead of an apparent fall down a staircase.

Officers in Beaver County answered a domestic dispute call at the Aliquippa home at about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Davis says an emergency team entered the home at about 6 p.m. Wednesday and found 46-year-old Rodney Harper of Pittsburgh dead at the bottom of stairs to the second floor.

Police Chief Andre Davis says a woman was outside but a man indoors threatened an officer who tried to enter.

Officers later heard a loud thump they believed might be the man trying to barricade the door.

Davis says an emergency team entered the home at about 6 p.m. Wednesday and found 46-year-old Rodney Harper of Pittsburgh dead at the bottom of stairs to the second floor.
