New Haven, CT: Woman Stabbed To Death

by Staff Feb 15, 2011 7:46 am
Police heard cries from inside. They rushed into the first-floor apartment, where a woman lay dead and a man critically wounded.

The incident occurred on Auburn Street around 8:10 p.m. Monday night. It probably involved a married couple with a history of domestic violence, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery.

Avery said the officers showed up in response to a report of a “domestic dispute”; they found both members of the couple “suffering from multiple, apparent stab wounds.” The man was rushed to the hospital and into surgery.

The department has opened a homicide investigation. It withheld names of the victims pending “proper notifications.”

Auburn Street is bisected by Frontage Road. The incident took place on the West River portion of the street.
