Nobelsville, IN: Murder-suicide victims are identified

Two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide Monday have been identified as an estranged husband and wife.

According to police, Shirlen Y. Dyson, 46, Indianapolis, was fatally shot after her vehicle was run off the road about 5:30 p.m. in The Meadows of Shelburne at Deer Path, near Greenfield Avenue and East 126th Street. The subdivision is just west of Verizon Wireless Music Center.

She was taken to St. Vincent Medical Center Northeast in Fishers, where she later died.

Following tips from witnesses, Fishers Police followed a Dodge Stratus on I-69, south of 96th Street, about 6 p.m.

They followed the car onto westbound I-465 and were stopping it at the Meridian Street interchange when the male driver shot himself in the head.

The driver, Vincent I. Dyson, 46, Indianapolis, was taken to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where he died.

According to WTHR (Channel 13), The Star's news-gathering partner, Marion County court records documented a pending divorce for the couple and allegations of abuse.
