A 41-year-old man is accused of stabbing to death his estranged wife, according to Miami-Dade police.
Adonis Montenegro Perdomo is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 39-year-old Mariluz Takata-Lopez. On Wednesday night, he was held without bond in a Miami-Dade County jail.

According to an arrest affidavit, Montenegro Perdomo and his wife had recently separated. On Tuesday, he followed Takata-Lopez in his vehicle and confronted her in the roadway at Southwest 15th Street and 92nd Court, the affidavit said.

``An arguement ensued, at which the time the defendant armed himself with a knife, plunged himself through the victim's windshield, and stabbed her multiple times, causing her death,'' the affidavit said.

Officers went to the area about 10:45 a.m. after a man called 911 saying he had stabbed his wife, according to police.

Officers arrived and saw Montenegro Perdomo standing over Takata-Lopez, but then he ran away, police said. At one point, Montenegro Perdomo said he had a grenade in his vehicle. Miami-Dade police's bomb squad responded and found no grenades.

He was subdued with a Taser, police said.

Montenegro Perdomo was taken to a local hospital for treatment, then questioned by police. After his confession, Montenegro Perdomo was charged with the murder.
