OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City police have arrested a man for the fatal shooting of his former girlfriend at a park.
Officers called to Red Andrews Park northwest of downtown found the body of 25-year-old Ashley Barnett about 8:40 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators say Barnett was sitting a picnic table with some friends when 28-year-old Brandon Freeman allegedly walked up to her and shot her. No one else was hurt in the shooting.
Police say Barnett and Freeman had been romantically involved.
Officers found Freeman near the shooting scene a short time later and took him into custody. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a first-degree murder complaint.
He hasn't been formally charged.
