Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Violence between a boyfriend and girlfriend erupts inside a local condo leaving detectives to sort out exactly what happened.

Police say the young man and young woman were discovered each with a single gunshot wound in a back bedroom.

The shooting happened inside the Scottsdale Condominium Complex on 6800 block of Elm Creek Drive around 5:30 p.m. That's near Rainbow and Gowan.

Police are calling it an "attempted" murder-suicide. The male who was shot has died from his gunshot wound at University Medical Center. The woman who was shot is listed in very critical condition. Police haven't said who pulled the trigger and who was the victim.

It was a relative who dialed 911 after discovered the wounded couple in their upstairs condo.

Two young children were inside the home during the domestic dispute. Police say they likely do not witness their parents being shot.

"When the family member made entry into the apartment, the kids were right there in the front of the residence and the two people were located in the back of the residence. They were uninjured and unharmed in the incident," said Capt. Matt Sanford with Las Vegas Metro Police.

Those two children are now in the custody of family members.

One neighbor who knows the couple says he is aghast by the grim details.

"He was a boxer. They just bought a minivan. He got rid of his Jetta so he could have a minivan for his kids and stuff. They seemed like a well to do family," said neighbor Rick Tennyson.

Police say both this young man and woman involved appear to be Hispanic and in their 20's. Detectives on scene said there have been no previous police calls to this residence.
