Osceola County Sheriff Deputies arrested a man late Friday night for trying to hire someone to kill his ex-wife.

Eyewitness News was there as 35 year old Tommy Carlton of Orlando was brought into the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Deputies started an investigation in early May after getting a tip that Carlton was trying to pay someone to kill his ex-wife. His ex-wife lives in Polk County.

Undercover Sheriff Deputies started talking with Carlton about the plot. They even staged the death of Carlton’s ex-wife to catch him. With the help of Carlton’s ex-wife, at one point, detectives even took pictures of his ex-wife that would make him believe that his ex-wife had been killed.

Investigators say they have undercover audio and video of meetings they had with Carlton. Eyewitness News is expecting to get those tapes over the next few days.

Carlton is employed as a travelling nurse. When he was arrested, he was wearing a stethoscope.

Investigators say Carlton wanted his ex-wife dead because of an ongoing custody battle involving their child.

Carlton is charged with Solicitation to Commit Murder.
