Police: Husband Abducts Wife From Job, Kills Her

 


Woman At Work Attempted To Get Away From HusbandPOSTED: 8:36 am EDT April 12, 2009UPDATED: 5:00 pm EDT April 13, 2009GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Greenwood County investigators said Monday afternoon that they are still looking for the husband of a woman who was abducted from her job and killed early Sunday morning.[Photo]Jimmy Maurice Elmore, 29, is charged with murder in the death of 28-year-old Dietra Culbreath Elmore, of Greenwood.On Monday, Kelley said that an autopsy determined that Elmore died of a gunshot wound to the back of the head. She said after Elmore was dead, it appeared her body had been run over by a vehicle.An affidavit said Jimmy Elmore was seen on surveillance video from the Li'l Cricket convenience store on Reynolds Avenue.Police said Dietra Elmore was at work at the Li'l Cricket when Jimmy Elmore forcefully abducted her.Dietra Elmore's body was found a short time later on East Cambridge Avenue. Police had said it appeared that Dietra Elmore tried to escape from her husband's moving car, but the coroner determined that the gunshot wound killed Elmore before she was run over.An arrest warrant said police found Jimmy Elmore's car and that his wife's blood was inside the car.Especially on a special day like Easter, for something like this to happen, our prayers just go out to the family," said State Sen. Floyd Nicolson. "I know her mother and her father. You know, my prayers just go out to the entire family.""She was just a good person to talk to. Funny. Loving. You need somebody to talk to, she's going to tell you the right thing," Dietra Elmore's cousin, Karl Harrison said. "It may not be what you want to hear, but it's going to be right."Harrison said that he visited his cousin just about every day at work at the Lil' Cricket store."She didn't deserve it. ... I hope authorities catch up with him and prosecute him."On Monday, Greenwood police told WYFF News 4 that they are aware of rumors that Jimmy Elmore may have killed himself, but they have been unable to prove or disprove the rumor, so they are continuing to look for him.Greenwood police said that they have received a few leads, but nothing that has led them to him.Anyone with information on Jimmy Elmore's whereabouts should call Greenwood police at 864-942-8405.
